Follow the process, ask the right questions, succeed
I’ve known Rafael since he was 18 and was cutting ads from newspapers in our media department in Argentina. His love of the craft, hard work and deep thinking soon propelled him to Director of Planning of Pragma/FCB in Buenos Aires, one of our shining agencies.
Defining moment: While studying advertising, he got the opportunity to work at Pragma/FCB, a large multinational. So, 2 days after finishing classes, he started working. And the rest is history. Rafa worked his way up from cutting ads to Director of Strategic Planning for Warner Latin America.
Change that he could have never imagined: There’s been too many. Changes in technology, changes in media, changes in the complexity of planning. And now, in working for the media, changes in POV. And now that he is running 7 countries for Warner, the changes get more complex every time.
How did you cope? Rafa’s go-to place is the process. The process that forces you to consider all the information, understand the local cultures and ask the right questions.
Advice to a CEO or CMO? It is a matter of talent, wisdom and profile match to the task. Older workers have accumulated more talent and wisdom.
